A very natural progression indeed. I will follow my own advice on it: Paint what you want to paint. There is no point practicing with still life if your end goal is elsewhere. Sure, they will help with some basic concepts, specially light and shadow, but they are not complex enough. The result so far is a mess. I’m not happy with quite a few aspects from it, simply because I still don’t have the skills to pull it off. On the other hand, I am very happy with how things are going, as it is far better than I thought myself capable of.
